PROGRAM GOALS:
1. To assist our student athletes in becoming better people and citizens.
2. To assist our players in achieving personal and team goals.
3. To develop our players into better soccer players and heighten their appreciation for the beautiful game and its laws
4. To pass along our passion and love for the game down to our players.
To achieve these goals there are a number of truths that we all need to understand:
1. We can only control what we can control. These are:
a. Fitness
b. Desire
c. Work Ethic
d. Commitment to the game and each other
e. Mental Toughness
f. Tactical Understanding
2. Organization is critical. This includes how the system of play is executed on the field; to how training sessions are run; to all the administrative things that we need to do.
3. Attention to the details. The little things, no matter how insignificant they may seem are often the difference between success and failure. This includes both on the field and off the field activities. We need to understand that our athletic program is held to a very high standard and we are always subject to a high level of scrutiny.
4. Role Models. Remember we are all role models to our players who in turn are role models to their peers and to the younger kids throughout our community. We must always conduct ourselves to the highest standards.
5. Definition of Success. Success is to be defined as "our we better at the end of our journey then when we started". If our approach is one of patience where we just want to get better each successive day, then the results and accolades will take care of themselves. Soccer is a funny game. Sometimes we don't always get the bounces or calls to go our way, however if we do things the right way with total commitment our chances of getting those bounces and calls will become greater. As Coach Wooden always said "winners always create their own luck".
